The earliest printed version is in the Levey Collection, Vol. 2 (1873), although there
is a version in an issue of the Dublin Monthly Magazine from 1842 under the title
“The March of Brian Borumha”. It was in the repertoire of harper Patrick Byrne (c. 1784-1863).
It was printed in Feldman & O'Doherty's The Northern Fiddler (1979),
S. Johnson's Kitchen Musician No. 4: Fine Tunes (1983),
Mallinson's 100 Enduring (1995),
O'Neill's Music of Ireland: 1850 Melodies (1903),
O'Neill's Irish Music (1915),
Roche's Collection of Traditional Irish Music, vol. 2 (1927),
Sullivan's Session Tunes, vol. 2 and
Tubridy's Irish Traditional Music, vol. 2 (1999).
It was recorded by Critton Hollow Stringband on By and By (1985),
Fennig's All-Star String Band on Fennigmania (1981),
Joe Burke, Michael Cooney & Terry Corcoran on The Celts Rise Again (1990) and
Joe Burke, Michael Cooney & Terry Corcoran on Happy to Meet & Sorry to Part (1986).
I learned it from print.
